Perhaps the way to solve the Democratic conundrum is to flip the Ticket and let Kamela Harris run for President, and Joe Biden for Vice-President. This would have a younger, stronger person at the head of the ticket, but also keep Biden's experience close at hand. 

There is also a precedent for replacing a Vice President (remember Spiro Agnew?) in case Biden's health declines.
